What Was That Sound?!?!

First, I'm sure most, if not all of us, have come across a strange sound or two on EVP that we just could not explain. These often lead to endless debate and argument as to just what was causing the noise. Was it a ghost? Another team member? An animal? The settling sounds often heard in an old building? Below are included some interesting sounds which may pop up while investigating a location thought to be haunted.

You are investigating an old farmhouse and hear these odd, yet melodic sounds picked up on your digital audio recorder or video camera...

Is it a bird? A twittering ghost? Something blowing about in the wind? Nope, its none of the above. These are actual recordings of singing mice. Yes, that's exactly what I said, SINGING mice! Click Here to read more about this amazing phenomena.

Other natural sounds we might end up recording which could at first sound "otherworldly..."

Bee

Grasshopper

Ground Squirrel

Spotted Bat

Squirrel

A good investigator must always be willing to rule out any possible explanation before declaring something of paranormal origin when working with EVP recordings.

Here are a few sites which offer recordings of wildlife, as well as normal, every day sounds. Bookmark them for future reference because you never know when you'll need them.

API Trivia - EVP

One of the most frightening sounding EVP recordings picked up by API UK was collected at The Grange in Hurworth-on-Tees, county Durham, England. At first, the sound appeared to be some very creepy long drawn out screams, truly spine-chilling. However, after hours of analyzing and slowing down the sound Colin was able to determine that we had actually picked up a fast moving vehicle going past on the road in the distance.
