Being an API Guest
Welcome to Anomalous Phenomena Investigations International (API)
What You Need To Know As A Guest On An API Investigation
What we
require of our guests:
API endeavors to make each and every investigation a safe, happy
and successful one for all participants. We also like to ensure that
local residents and the general population suffer little or no
impact from our presence. So, for each and every guest who would
like to participate in an investigation we require certain
conditions be met, as follows:
1. At least one week before the commencement of the investigation each guest must supply us with their full name and city/town/village of abode. This will be used on the ID badge that we issue to you as a guest. Many people who are members of other teams already possess an ID badge, which can be used instead of an API Guest ID.
2. We also include the above requested information on the Police
Notification sheet that we hand in to the local police offices.
3. If you are arriving in an automobile we also require your
registration number. This also is included on the form that we
provide to the local police. We register with the police for a
number of reasons. We find that it is a nice courtesy that they
appreciate, it lets them know who all these strangers are in their
area, and what our purpose is, and it helps them to determine who is
with us for an investigation so that their vehicles can be watched
and guarded against things such as vandalism and theft. This comes
in handy for those times when we don't bring our own security team.
4. Each and every person attending our investigations will be asked
to fill out an Emergency Medical Form. This form will not be seen by
any other participants, nor by the API team. You will carry it in a
pocket on your person. In the event of an emergency we can then
instruct the attending medical personnel that you have this form on
you, which can greatly speed up any necessary medical treatment you
may require.
5. We require each and every participant to sign a Release of
Liability form. This not only protects the location owner/trustees,
but also protects API. By participating in one of our investigations
you take full responsibility for any injuries you may incur or
damages that you may cause.
6. Occasionally we will require that guests sign a Non-Disclosure
Agreement. This agreement is necessary in the event that a location
owner wishes to maintain anonymity and does not wish to have any
information disclosed about the investigation, or if API for some
reason wishes to maintain secrecy until a certain time limit has
expired. In the case of authors and participating leaders of other
teams, special agreements will be made.
7. We do not allow the consumption of alcohol or the use of any
illegal/controlled substances. Any who show up inebriated or under
the influence will be refused participation in the investigation.
We expect that each and every guests will abide by and agree to the
above listed conditions. They are mandatory and no exceptions will
be made. We feel that they are necessary procedures that can only
help to ensure that everyone has a safe experience with API.
What to expect at an investigation:
Upon arrival at the location you will be asked to sign all necessary
forms and display your ID Badge either around your neck or pinned to
your outer clothing.
You will notice team members and other co-teams preparing their
equipment for the investigation. Feel free to ask any questions
about what they are doing, and why.
Expect to be in some very dark locations, and at times in some very
narrow areas of a building. You may also find that we are covering
areas outside and in wooded areas. You will want to wear shoes that
are comfortable and easy to walk or hike in. The same rule goes for
clothing.
Generally, we will all meet in one room, called the Base Room, where
each person will be assigned to a group for the night. We will then
lead everyone on a quick tour of the location and point out any
danger spots they need to be aware of. We then return to the Base
Room, each group is given their area to investigate and we then head
to our areas. We remain in our areas for one hour, and then return
to the Base Room for a break and to be directed to the next area.
While in the Base Room we request that everyone refrain from
discussing what they may have seen, felt, heard or experienced
during their vigils.
Make sure to bring food and something to drink, like a flask of
coffee, tea or cola. Break times in the Base Room are used for
snacking and preparing for the next vigil. Sometimes smoking will be
allowed inside the Base Room. For those occasions when it is not
permitted we will designate a smoking area outside. We will also
make sure that there are always toilet facilities available.
We ask that nobody leave from their vigil unless it is an absolute necessity or an emergency. If you must leave ask someone to go with you as we don't want anyone wandering around alone.
You will notice that a lot of different equipment is in use during
an investigation, including, but not limited to...cameras, video
cameras, sound recorders, dowsing rods, dowsing crystals, crystal
glasses, cd players, computers, thermometers, EMF Meters, torches,
note pads and various other items. API likes to try varied
experiments and record the results. Other co-Team guests might also
be conducting their own experiments. We ask that other guests do not
handle the equipment, trigger objects or experiments unless
otherwise requested to do so.
We also do a lot of writing. What we are doing is recording weather
conditions, EMF readings, temperature changes, movement of certain
items, peoples impressions, feelings, possible sightings of
paranormal activity, etc.... If you see, hear, feel, smell, or sense
anything make sure to tell the note keeper in your group, or write
it on your own note pad, along with the location you are in and the
time. Don't forget to record your name as well. These notes will all
be handed in at the end of the investigation to an API team member.
If there is anything else you wish to know or are curious about just
ask an API team member or another co-Team guest member.
